THE OPPORTUNITY
Wolfpack Hire is recruiting on behalf of an established electrical and mechanical contractor with a long track record across Indonesia. Our client is delivering a data centre build in Nongsa, Batam, and needs an experienced Electrical Superintendent / General Foreman to lead the electrical construction from early planning and procurement through to installation, testing and commissioning.
This is a direct, full-time role with our client, not labour hire.
If you've delivered electrical works on a data centre before, you'll know how much rides on the lead-up documentation, commissioning stages and interfaces. That's exactly the experience our client is looking for.
Batam is a 45-minute ferry ride from Singapore, giving easy access to international flights home.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead electrical construction delivery of the data centre across multiple work fronts, directing supervisors, foremen, electricians, technicians and subcontractors
- Get involved early: review works requirements and the delivery schedule, and oversee selection and procurement of construction plant, tools and equipment
- Take part in technical approval and procurement of equipment and materials, including 1st fix, 2nd fix, fit-off, termination and testing requirements
- Coordinate installation of cable containment and pulling, earthing and bonding, lighting, small power, distribution boards, switchboards and client-supplied long-lead equipment
- Manage lead-up works documentation and work closely with the commissioning team through pre-commissioning and commissioning
- Plan and track daily and weekly progress against the construction program, and drive recovery measures when needed
- Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical and instrumentation disciplines to minimise clashes and rework
- Ensure safe work practices, including isolations, LOTO, permit-to-work and height safety controls
- Maintain QA records, inspections and test results, and support audits and handover
- Report progress, manpower and constraints to the Electrical Construction Manager and Project Manager
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- A current electrical licence from any Australian state
- Data centre electrical construction experience is strongly preferred, particularly through the lead-up and commissioning stages
- Proven experience supervising electrical teams on large projects (strong candidates from commercial, industrial, infrastructure or mining backgrounds will also be considered)
- Strong understanding of electrical drawings, specifications, installation methods, testing, commissioning and construction sequencing
- Comfortable with manpower planning, productivity tracking, material coordination and progress reporting
- Strong site leadership and clear communication skills
- Speaking Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage but not essential
THE PACKAGE
Equates to approx. AUD 326,000 gross per year (base salary, housing allowance and retirement allowance combined).
No Australian superannuation applies to this role. A retirement allowance is paid instead, and it is already included in the package figure above.
Paid monthly, net of Indonesian tax:
- Base salary: AUD 15,900
- Housing allowance: AUD 2,250 (the company will help you find accommodation near site)
- Retirement allowance: 9.1% of base (approx. AUD 1,447), with Indonesian BPJS contributions deducted from this
Plus:
- Margin-based performance incentive
- Travel entitlement of USD 1,000 to 1,600 per R&R trip depending on point of hire (Perth or regional), approx. 6.5 trips per year
- 2 weeks paid leave each swing, plus 2 travel days when travelling to Australia or overseas
- Visa, work permit and medical insurance provided
- Shared project vehicle or taxi reimbursement
- Uniform, PPE, laptop, company phone and SIM, plus a monthly personal call allowance
